Hiro Brücke
Painter, woodworker and saxophonist based in Japan.
I work in a small cabin I built in the mountains. My days are divided between making things from wood, painting small works on panel, and playing the saxophone. Most of what I do begins with simple materials and the time to work with them quietly.
Since 2018 I have documented this life on my YouTube channel Brücke. The videos show everyday work in the cabin and around it — building, repairing, painting, and the presence of the animals who live with me.
Recently I have been focusing on small acrylic paintings on wood panel. Many of them are quiet studies of objects, light, and familiar scenes from daily life.
I continue to work slowly, one piece at a time.
